Destination: Cancun, Mexico
When: January 1997
Itinerary: flew in and out of Cancun International
I went to Cancun for my cousin’s wedding. We stayed at the Presidente International, a very nice condo property that my aunt got through her time share. The weather was perfect every day! The beaches are fantastic!
We took the ferry over to Isla Mujeres one day. It was a very quiet place to go. We basically had the beach to ourselves. We were able to explore some of the rocky coastlines along the island which was fun. The ferry ride took about an hour each way.
We also spent a day at Xcaret, a Eco Park in Playa del Carmen. There we spent the day swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, floating down an underground river/cave, viewing exotic animals and experiencing the Mayan culture. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Cancun is full of things to do and places to go. There are numerous craft markets, shopping centers, food markets, restaurants and clubs. You’ll never get bored in Cancun.
My Recommendations: GO! You will fly right into the Cancun airport and travel 20 minutes north to Cancun (for a more relaxing destination, fly into Cancun but travel south to the Playa del Carmen area!) Bring sunscreen and your adventurous spirit! Have fun in Cancun! Spring break is in March and unless you want to participate in the craziness, you’ll want to avoid that time of year.
